The Cubs swept the Dodgers 12-6 and 11-1 in the first round of the playoffs on 8/29.
The Cubs extended their 2010 record to an amazing 17-1. Of course the record is meaningless now that we are in the
playoffs. The Cubs will host the 13-5 Cardinals in the NLCS on 9/12 and must be ready to compete if they wish to
defend their 2008 and 2009 League Championships.
As always for the Cubs, pitching was the key for the win. John Gordon pitched 8 scoreless
innings in game 2. John allowed just 3 hits while striking out 8 and facing just 4 batters over the minimum. Wow.
Mark Grogan pitched the 9th allowing a meaningless run in the 11-1 win.
The Cubs bats scored a lot of runs, putting up 23 runs in the two games. In Game 2, the Cubs scored 11 times.
Mark Grogan and
Andy Luckhardt both went 3-3. All of Grogs hit were run scoring singles, what a day! Roberto was 2 for 3 with 2
doubles. Brad had another double and John Gordon had a triple. Alex was 2-3 to go 4-7 on the day. Ricker was 3-5 on
the day. Grogs and Brad led the team with 4 RBIs while Dennis led with 3 runs scored.
