The Cubs beat the Mariners 10-0 on 7/11.
The Cubs continued their torrid start to the season by winning their first game of the second half 10-0
over the Mariners. The July 4th holiday off week did not slow down the Cubs as they scored 4 runs in the
first, 4 more in the third and then coasted to the 10-0 win.
Tom Barnes started and threw the first 5 innings to pick up the win. Tom allowed 3 hits while striking out
3 batters. John Gordon picked up the save throwing the last 4 innings. John allowed 4 hits while striking
out 4.
The Cubs had big offensive days from several folks. Chris Ricker had 2 hits and 3 RBIs. Dennis Fontecchio
and Tim Shaver also picked up two hits a piece. Paul Sonnett, Ken Hamm, Dennis and PJ O'Toole all scored
2 runs. The Cubs had 12 singles and no extra base hits in the game.
