Box Score

The Cubs swept the Dodgers in the first round playoff series.
The Cubs beat the Dodgers 14-3 and 9-0 to move into the NLCS series against the Braves. The start of game 1 was delayed 2 hours in order to get a very sloppy field in playing condition. The work on the field seemed to impact the Dodgers players as the first game was not a very well played game. The Cubs had 10 hits, 12 walks and 3 reach by errors to score 14 runs. All 10 Cubs players either scored a run or had an RBI. The Cubs scored in 6 of the 7 innings of the game. Andy Luckhardt had a big game, picking up three hits including a double.

Tom Barnes went the distance in the first game allowing 3 runs, 2 earned. Tom cruised after a tough start where three of the first 4 batters reached. However, Tom picked off a runner and didn't allow another run until the 5th when the score was 11-1. Tom had two pickoffs in the game and Paul Sonnett threw out a base stealer.

Alex Scott had a real nice day at short making a huge over the shoulder catch with the bases loaded in the first game. The Cubs turned a 4-6-3 double play to help get out of a 6th inning jam.
