The Cubs lost to the Red Sox 6-2 on 7/26.
This may have been one of the quickest games the Cubs played all year. The Cubs made the only error of the game
despite the hot conditions. It was a very well played game and the Cubs were in a 2-2 tie afetr 6 innings.
However, the Red Sox scored a single run in the 7th, 2 runs in the 8th and 1 in the 9th that the Cubs
could not answer and fell short 6-2.
Tom Barnes started and had to go the distance as the reduced Cubs roster in this game had no healthy relief
pitching. Tom did a great job in keeping the Red Sox lineup at bay for most of the game. He also picked off
another runner at first, he seems to make that happen at least once a game.
Alex Scott had an RBI single in the third and Tom Barnes had an RBI single in the 6th. Veteran Cubs Dan
Gould made his first appearance since 2003 and contributed with a hit and a run scored and made some nice
plays in the outfield.
