Box Score

The Cubs swept the Braves 16-1 and 12-3 on 7/20.
In a huge double header for the Cubs, they came out and smoked the Braves 16-1 and 13-3 to solidify their hold on second place. The Cubs are now 3.5 games ahead of the Braves and Dodgers for second place with just 5 games left. The Cubs are now 2-0 against both teams which grants them the tie breaker edge too.

John Gordon continued to have a great season on the mound. He went the distance in game 1 allowing just a first inning run.

What a day for the offense! In game one, the Cubs had a 10 run third inning in which 10 straight batters reached. All 12 players in the game 1 lineup scored at least 1 run. There were many guys with great days, but the best games were had by John Gordon who had a 4-4 game with a double, Alex Scott who was 3-3 with a double, triple, walk and 3 run scored and Chris Ricker who punctuated that third inning with a bases loaded double in his 2-3 game.
