The Cubs 2007 season started with a 10-4 loss to the Tigers on 4/22.
Since the 2006 season ended in a game with the same score, I've seen enough 10-4 scores for awhile!
The Cubs kept battling but just couldn't get over the hump of a 5 run Tiger first inning. There were
several scoring opportunities, but once the Cubs made it 5-3 in the 4th, the Tigers responded with a
3 run bottom of the 4th to extend the lead.
The Cubs pitchers were Tom Barnes (4IP), Billy Bracken (3IP) and Earl Carpenter (1IP).
There were some nice defensive plays in the game. Alex Scott made a nice play at short to start a
force play at second with Dennis Fontecchio. Dennis also did a great job to turn a double play to
end the 8th.
On offense, Eddie Murray was 4-4 with 2 runs scored. Earl Carpenter had a huge 2 out 2 RBI single in
the 4th to make the game 5-3. Alex Scott roped a 2 out RBI single in the 7th. Paul Sonnett had to
leave early, but managed to have an RBI single in his final at bat.
