It was a full team effort for the Cubs in beating the National League foe Brewers 15-3. Andy Schultz went the first 5 innings without allowing a run. Andy allowed 5 hits and a walk and struck out 4 to pick up the victory. The final four innings were split between Andy Luckhardt, Tom Barnes, Chris Greig and Luis Tiant. Tom and Chris both threw very sharp 1-2-3 innings. Andy Luckhardt struck out 2 batters in his inning and Luis struck out the side in his inning.

Defensively, the Cubs played fairly well, but it certainly was not perfect. Chris Greig made 3 plays at third in the first 2 innings. Dennis Fontecchio was busy at short and made several solid plays. Paul Sonnett threw out a Brewer runner trying to steal third.

The Cubs smacked 18 hits in the 9 innings of this contest. Eleven of the twelve batters in the order either drove in a run or scored. Big days were had by Eddie Murray 2-3 with 2 walks and 3 runs scored. Paul Sonnett was 4-5 with a RBI and 2 runs scored. Tim Shaver delivered 2 singles.
