Andy Schultz went the distance allowing just 3 earned runs in another Brave killing outing. There was only 1 inning that the Braves didn't get a base runner, but Andy continually pitched his way out of jams. The defense had a couple poor moments, but in general it was a very solid game. A key 6-4-3 double play (Dennis to Peter to Tom) ended the 8th inning while the Cubs still trailed 5-4. The Cubs scored in the bottom of the 8th on a bases loaded nubber to short to tie the game. In the 9th, Tim Shaver led off with a double to left and he scored on an Earl Carpenter single to center to win the game.
