The Cubs lost 10-6 to the Mariners at Holliston High School. The Cubs led 6-3 going into the bottom of the eighth when the roof caved in. The Mariners scored 7 runs on 3 hits, 3 walks and catcher's interference a HBP and an error. It's easy to feel that the game was stolen away because we had to play the bottom of the eighth in a heavy drizzle and then the game was called without playing a ninth inning when the conditions hadn't worsened. It was a difficult way for a game to end. However, this is a great team and we will get through this dry spell we're in right now. Also, many good things happened on the day. Tom Whiting made his Cubs debut and looked good making a nice play at second base and taking some good cuts. Peter DiNatale made his season debut with 2 hits. Wally Siggins drove in 3 runs on the day. Glenn Legault had 2 smoked singles with an RBI and a run scored. Tom Barnes pitched 7 fantastic innings and the defense was vastly improved from the first two games of the season. Tim Shaver did a nice job behind the plate for the last 4 innings of the game.
