This was a great win for the Cubs as they avenged their only loss of the season by beating the Indians, a team that was 9-2 entering the game. The Cubs team record winning streak is now at 10 games! Andy Luckhardt went the distance to pick up the win. Andy allowed no runs and just 2 hits through 8 innings before the Indians rallied for 3 runs in the ninth. The offense was led by the first three batters, Dan Gould (3-3, walk and 3 runs scored), Glenn Legault (2-3, HBP and 3 runs scored) and Earl Carpenter (3-3, 2 doubles, walk and 3 RBIs). Paul Sonnett and Andy Luckhardt both picked up 2 RBIs. Tim Shaver picked up the other run scored.

The Cubs ran their team record winning streak to 10 games with a 7-3 win over the Indians. Andy Luckhardt went the distance in this one and was dominating. After the first batter reached via a hit, Andy didn't allow the next Indians hit until the 8th inning! Through 6 innings, Andy had allowed just three runners on a hit, a walk and a HBP. Andy ended the day with 9 Ks, including 5 in a row in the 5th and 6th innings. Only three outs were recorded in the outfield.

On offense, the story was the top three batters. The Cubs scored twice in the first, third and eighth innings, each time with Dan Gould and Glenn Legault scoring the runs from the top two spots in the order.
