Box Score

The Cubs picked up their 4th straight win with a 19-2 victory over the Brewers. As always with the Cubs, solid pitching and defense was the key. During the last three games the Cubs have beaten their opponents 41-3 and during the 4 game streak, the Cubs have won by a combined score of 54-8! Over those 4 games, that's an average victory of 13-2. Andy Schultz pitched the first 6 innings allowing 5 hits and 2 runs to pick up his first win of the year. Mark Grogan made his first pitching appearance since August 19, 2001. Unfortunately the same arm problems that plagued Mark that season came back and he was unable to finish the 7th. Mark was dominating, facing three batters and getting 2 Ks. Chris Greig finished up to get the last out.

The defense didn't make any outstanding plays, but was very solid. The only error of the game was on a throw to the plate from the outfield.

The Cubs managed to score 19 runs in 6 innings! They used a 7 run second, 4 run third and 5 run fifth to pile up the runs. Peter DiNatale and Andy Luckhardt had exceptional days, both going 3-4 with a double. Andy scored 4 runs and Peter drove in 4 while scoring 2. Tim Shaver and Mark Grogan were both 2-3 with a double. Tim drove in 2 and scored 3 runs while Mark scored twice. Rich Schwarz came to bat with the bases loaded 4 times and drove in his first runs of the season with a HBP, fielders choice and an infield single. A much better looking boxscore day than reality. Andy Schultz was 1-2 with 2 walks and 2 runs scored. Dennis Fontecchio continue his torrid start to the season with a 1-2 day with 2 RBIs and 2 walks. His average dropped to .611! Eddie Murray was 1-1 with a double, 2 walks and 1 HBP.
