Sun 09/08/2002 Game 1
The Cubs lost to the Braves 3-2 in the first game of the National League Championship series. Earl Carpenter had a tremendous outing on the mound giving up just three runs in the fourth inning. Earl deserved a better fate, but the Cubs only manged a first inning run and a seventh inning run. The Cubs had runners in scoring position in each of the last 5 innings, including the game tying run in the last 3 innings. However, the clutch hit eluded the Cubs in game 1.
