The Cubs lost 5-2 to Yankees to complete the double header sweep. The Yankees ace was very effective in shutting down the Cub attack. This was a five inning game because the field needed to be used for a Babe Ruth game.

Cubs 2 0 0 0 0 2 5 2

Box Score

What can you say about this game. The Yankees won 5-2. The Cubs scored two in the first inning against a weak pitcher and then the Yankees brought in their ace to pitch the second through the fifth innings. We barely touched the ace. The game was stopped after the fifth inning because there was a Babe Ruth game that needed to start.

Chris Greig pitched pretty well, he had a great curveball! Earl pitched one dominating inning too.

Defensively the Cubs only committed a couple errors. Earl made a great throw to bag an attempted base stealer in the first inning.

The Cubs managed just 5 hits in this one. Earl Carpenter delivered a two run double in the first inning. Tim Shaver continued his good day at the plate with a solid single to left off the Yankee ace and a walk. Chris Greig also had a line drive single to complete a 2-3 double header day. Frank Fazio played in his first game of the season and almost had a run scoring single to center field. The second baseman made a nice play to snare Frank's liner to end the game. Eddie Murray had the only other hit of the game for the Cubs.
