In the first game of the twin bill, The Cubs continued their dominance
of the Braves with a resounding 15-5 victory. Andy Schultz went the
distance to pick up his first win of the season. He pitched 7 strong
innings allowing just 5 hits and 4 earned runs. Andy struck out 3 and
didn't walk a batter. In 11 innings pitched this season, Andy is yet to
walk a batter! Andy didn't allow a hit over the last 4 innings.
Defensively, the Cubs weren't at their sharpest. However, a great double
play was turned in the first inning, DiNatale to Murray to Sudkin.
The offense used 8 walks and 10 hits to score 15 runs. 10 runs were
scored in the second inning. 8 of the runs came in after 2 were out as 8
straight batters reached base. Frank Fazio collected his first hit of
the season. It was a key 2 run single in the critical second inning.
Bryon Withers continued his red hot start to the season with 2 singles,
3 RBIs and 2 runs scored. Bob Zeleznik also collected 2 singles and
scored 2 runs. Eddie Murray went 2 for 3 with a triple, 3 RBIs and 2

for Eddie!! Mark Grogan took another HBP, this one to the helmut. Not
to be outdone, Package failed to move out of the way of a pitch in the
second inning. Bill Keville was 1 for 1 with a sac fly and walk. Pete
DiNatale, batting in his standard number 2 spot, managed to go 0 for 0
during this slugfest with 3 walks! Pete also scored and drove in a run
without having an official at bat.
